The Crane Awareness Workshop is run based on demand and is commonly delivered as an in-house workshop for companies and project teams.
Course Description
The Crane Awareness Workshop is designed for people who work around, manage or supervise crane and lifting operations but do not necessarily perform high-risk work themselves.
The workshop provides practical underpinning knowledge of lifting operations and helps participants understand crane and rigging activities, licensing requirements, responsibilities and the safety standards expected on site.
It is particularly suited to site managers, project managers, construction managers, supervisors, foremen, engineers, cadets and other personnel involved in planning or overseeing lifting operations.
A key part of the workshop is understanding the factors that affect whether a lift can be performed safely. This includes Working Load Limit (WLL), operating radius and crane capacity, and why a crane's lifting capacity changes depending on the position of the load.
This is an awareness workshop only. It does not provide a High-Risk Work Licence or authorise participants to operate cranes, perform dogging or rigging work, or direct a licensed HRW worker in how they perform their licensed duties
What the Workshop Covers
Participants are introduced to:
different crane types and relevant High-Risk Work Licence classes
basic crane terminology, movements and operating principles
crane capacity, operating radius and load charts
licensing requirements for crane operators, doggers and riggers
roles and responsibilities during lifting operations
crane operator checks and basic maintenance requirements
lifting and rigging equipment inspections
lifting gear registers and inspection requirements
best-practice lifting principles
communication during lifting operations
loading areas and management of people around lifting activities
powerline exclusion zones
planning, coordinating and supervising crane activities.
For in-house delivery, TCT can tailor the workshop to your site, crane and lifting activities, and relevant safe working practices.
Pre-requisites
None but must be 18 years old.
Training and Assessment requirements
Participants should have sufficient English language skills to understand and participate in the workshop.
No practical crane operation, dogging or rigging is undertaken as part of this course.
Venue
Tower Crane Training, 11 Watsford Road, Campbelltown NSW 2560
On-site corporate delivery and live online delivery is also available.

Course Duration
Generally, a ½ day workshop of approximately 3-4 hours.
Class size
Minimum 4 participants.
Workshops are generally limited to 15 participants to allow for discussion and interaction.
Larger groups can be discussed depending on the delivery format and client requirements.
Course Delivery
Training can be delivered at Tower Crane Training's Campbelltown training facility or on site for corporate clients or live online via Microsoft teams.
For In-house delivery, workshop discussions can be tailored to the types of cranes, lifting activities and site responsibilities relevant to the client's operations.
Course outcome
Participants who complete the workshop will have a better understanding of crane and lifting operations and the responsibilities of the different people involved.
All attendees receive a Statement of Attendance at the conclusion of the workshop.
This is a non-accredited awareness workshop and does not result in a High-Risk Work Licence or Statement of Attainment.

Participant price guide:
Workshop pricing starts from $2,200 for up to 4 participants.
5–7 participants: $450 per person
8+ participants: $400 per person

Payment
Corporate bookings can be invoiced, and standard TCT payment terms apply.
Cancellations and or date change and refunds
A booking may be cancelled or rescheduled with a minimum of three business (3) days' notice prior to the course start date. Enrolments may also be transferred to another student if needed (except for Incolink vouchers) Please note that failure to attend a course without prior communication will be considered a forfeiture of the enrolment and no refunds or course deferrals will be offered by TCT.
